MACHINE SHOP PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - Siler City, NC

The Machine Shop Production Supervisor safely performs position specific responsibilities in line with Olympic Steel’s Core Values to ensure a high level of productivity, quality and internal and external customer service while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures. Directs the efforts of the warehouse operations staff, specifically machine operator personnel to ensure all work is coordinated and a minimum of machine downtime occurs. Reviews daily personnel needs and recommends overtime or a reduction in hours is necessary. Prioritizes efforts of the crane operator to work demands. Works closely with the Inside Sales Department and the Production Coordinator to determine machine scheduling based on customer delivery dates, material availability, processing requirements and logical methods of distribution. Reviews daily schedule with machine operators to ensure accuracy and commitment. Notifies Inside Sales when problems arise which prevent on-time customer delivery. Monitors inventory (stock and ship-tagged) and communicates aged-inventory to management to ensure turnover and effective space utilization. Supports all other processes both on and between shifts with a good attitude toward teamwork. Oversees all production personnel on designated shift(s) and acts in a supervisory and resourceful capacity.
•5+ years of experience in a steel services center or other related manufacturing environment.
•Prior plant and staff management experience.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with an aptitude for MIS systems and Technologies.
•Precise math and use of precision instruments skills.
•Proven training or experience operating specific equipment and motor vehicles.
•Ability to inspect material for Quality conformance.
•Experience in Office Administration with the ability to manage/supervise personnel.
•Knowledge of operations efficiency and division equipment preferred.
