The Connecticut Division has an outstanding opportunity for a career-oriented individual interested in Operations Management.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management of manufacturing operations. Specific responsibilities include the overseeing of safety, production/manufacturing, and maintenance, shipping and receiving, to ensure that all products are processed and shipped on time and in keeping with customer’s specifications, while maintaining a safe work environment for all employees. Other significant tasks include, but are not limited to evaluation and maintenance of production standards, training, control of operating costs, direct management of production scheduling, programming, manufacturing engineering, shipping/receiving, maintenance personnel, and union contract negotiations. This position will provide primary leadership for continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles/methods, in addition to, leadership training and coaching, working with and visiting vendors, customers.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a related field, prior supervisory experience preferable
- Prior steel industry and product knowledge required
- Proficiency in Lotus Notes, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel required
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices
- Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizing and planning, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to foster a cooperative labor/management environment
- Negotiates and manages contractual arrangements
