The Eastern Region has an outstanding opportunity for an Outside Sales Representative to cover pre-determined accounts through-out Western New York State.
The Outside Sales Representative would be responsible for calling on all existing active accounts in this region with an eye towards adding accounts that would benefit any/all Olympic Steel locations. This position utilizes frequent, direct face-to-face contact and a consultative sales approach to ensure customer satisfaction. The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing annual forecasts and implementing plans and strategies to achieve revenue and volume targets. The Outside Sales Representative partners with the Inside Sales Representative to ensure high quality service, including on time delivery according to customer specifications.
Qualified candidates must have a BA/BS degree and minimum of 5 year’s sales/customer service experience in the steel industry. Experience selling carbon steel sheet, carbon steel slit coil, and Stainless steel sheet and slit coil is preferred. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to develop new account relationships and expand business with existing customer base. Steel product knowledge, general business acumen, and demonstrated customer service aptitude is also required. Other qualifications include, strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, willingness to travel, as position requires, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualified candidates must also have the ability to negotiate effectively and educate customers about products and services as well as the ability to formulate sales quotes and proposals. Must be able and willing to participate in community and customer engagements as the position requires – may require employee to conduct business outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends.
