Detroit Division - Quality Assurance Manager

The Detroit Division has an immediate opportunity for a quality-focused detail-oriented individual interested in a career as a Quality Assurance Manager.

Responsibilities

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Assurance and Environmental functions, developing and implementing quality policies and procedures, interfacing with suppliers and customers on quality issues, and serving as a training resource to other internal departments for quality related issues.

Additionally, the Quality Manager will generate and track corrective actions and corresponding responses to customers and suppliers, implement continuous improvement activities, manage the internal audit process including audit execution, and manage the activities, performance and development of the quality inspection, certification and engineering staff.

Other responsibilities include interfacing with customers and suppliers as a technical liaison, working with sales to identify potential customers and applications, contributing to sales presentations, managing the customer / supplier claims process, responding to customer requests for information, and managing department records in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Industrial Management or related field, or 5-plus years experience in a related field, preferably in the steel / metals industry.

Other qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, ISO standards, QS9000, inventory management, and materials production
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills partnered with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, develop and lead staff
  • Strong business and data analysis skills and the ability to achieve business results
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
  • Proficiency in Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio
