The Minnesota Division has an outstanding opportunity for a career-oriented individual interested in becoming a Purchasing Specialist/Buyer.
This Purchasing Specialist/Buyer position will be a critical member of the MN purchasing team. They will be responsible for maintaining the outsourcing process flow in MN, maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support the sales forecast, at lowest total cost, while meeting or exceeding required inventory turns is a daily task. The Purchasing Specialist/Buyer typically works independently to approve quotes on routine jobs, but may rely on the assistance of other more senior purchasing staff or division management for approval on more complex quotes. Through the daily use of all Microsoft Office programs, this person will complete recurring reports on the status of our outsourced parts. Developing, implementing, and maintaining an MRO purchasing program, qualifying and approving MRO supplies, placing orders and making confirmations and completing the related computer entry are just a few of the daily tasks for the Purchasing Specialist/Buyer.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have 2 - 3 years experience preferably in the Fabrication industry in a purchasing role. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. The following skill sets are essential to being successful in this role as a Purchasing Specialist/Buyer, focused outsourcing:
- Fabrication knowledge and experience
- Ability to read blueprints, derive processing times from the blueprints, and apply quotes to processing times yielding sound outsourcing decisions
- Experience processing machining, forming, welding, and finishing
- Strong Excel background
Any candidate that possesses experience in ISO or quality audits specific to outsourced business on top of the criteria listed above would be preferred. Qualified candidates must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as proven administrative abilities. This position requires strong mathematical, analytical, organizing, planning, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills. The ability to learn Software quickly is a baseline requirement.
