The Minneapolis Plate Division has an outstanding opportunity for a career-oriented individual interested in a career as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation of quality systems and processes at the operational level, overseeing the technical areas of the Quality Assurance function including customer and mill claims, generating corrective actions, and performing capability and gauge studies. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will manage the customer claim function by investigating and resolving causes of customer claims, responding to and tracking corrective actions for customers, and interfacing with customers as a technical liaison and technical resource. The Quality Engineer will assist the manufacturing operations by coordinating internal corrective action responses and facilitating problem solving activities, and working with machine operators to manage the reduction of internal yield losses and scrap rejects. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for all equipment and processes, maintaining programs to comply with ISO/QS9000 and customer requirements, conducting First Article Inspections, monitoring the quality of output, analyzing and re-engineering operations, procedures and strategies and training employees as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or related field and 2-3 years commensurate business experience required
- Masters degree in Statistics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of quality engineering processes and Lean Manufacturing principles and practices
- Experience in managing material, production and quality control and conducting internal and vendor audits preferred
- Strong mathematical, statistical and analytical skills in addition to demonstrated leadership ability required
- Ability to achieve business results, excellent organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional precision instrument measurement skills
- Proficiency with Minitab or comparable statistical software program
- Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, Visio and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels in the company
