Eugene (Larry) Klesser III
Engineering Intern
Hometown: Dillsburg, PA
- Why did you choose to intern for Olympic Steel?
I chose to intern at Olympic Steel to gain valuable, hands-on engineering experience. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of learning from two outstanding mentors, Austin and Andy, who’ve taught me not only core engineering principles but also practical life skills that go beyond the workplace. Their guidance helped me connect field experience directly to my academic studies.
Olympic Steel’s focus on continuous improvement, safety, and innovation has created an environment where I can grow and contribute. This internship has deepened my interest in learning, boosted my confidence, and strengthened my existing skills. I’m excited to officially join the Internship Program and continue building on this momentum over the summer.
- What do you hope to accomplish during your time here at Olympic Steel?
During my time here at Olympic Steel, I hope to continue the progress on the Chambersburg 2.0 projects, learn as many new things as I can, and hopefully get a full-time job offer after I graduate this fall.
- What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy fishing, playing video games, playing sports, partying, hanging out with my friends, going on adventures, and traveling.
- What is your proudest moment so far?
My proudest moments have come when I’ve faced major obstacles and pushed through them with resilience and a positive attitude. Being able to take on challenges head-on, maintain my composure, and come out stronger on the other side has been incredibly rewarding. These experiences have shown me the value of perseverance and have reinforced my belief that my growth often comes from my most difficult moments.
