Summer Intern Project

Sales / Marketing Intern – Action Stainless, Houston, TX

“My project focused on understanding which Action Stainless marketing investments are producing measurable results. I brought together expenses, customer and revenue records, website leads and analytics and trade show activity, then evaluated return on investment, customer acquisition cost and conversion rates. Because the information came from several sources, I worked with team members to bring it together and create a clearer view of marketing performance. I’m proud that I was able to build a more organized framework for evaluating results and identifying opportunities. The work gives Action Stainless a stronger foundation for making data-backed decisions about where to grow, maintain or adjust its marketing investments in the future.”

  • Why did you choose to intern for Olympic Steel?
I chose Olympic Steel because I know I can gain valuable skills and experience working in the metal industry. I also personally align with Olympic Steel’s core values. I strive to always be better and learn as much as I can while being committed and taking initiative. I also appreciated the collaborative office environment that HaLee and Jess mentioned in my interview.

  • What do you hope to accomplish during your time here at Olympic Steel?
I hope to gain as much experience as possible in the short time I am here. I want to make an actual impact and bring in new ideas that will make a difference. I also want to learn how about marketing in this specific industry.

  • What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time with my friends and loved ones, try new restaurants, cook, watch new and upcoming shows, and listen to music.

  • What is your proudest moment so far?
My proudest moment so far would have to be getting this internship. The reason I am so proud is because I have put a lot of time and effort into getting a meaningful internship this year. Since moving to Houston, this experience has helped me gain useful skills that I can carry into my future career. Whether it was the skills gained from career fairs, interviews, or academic projects, I have put myself out there and out of my comfort zone to become a better version of myself every day and help myself in my early career as much as possible.
