Summer Intern Project
Quality Intern – Olympic Steel, Minneapolis, MN
“My project centered on developing a sustainable 5S system for the Minneapolis Division. I created standards for storage locations, workplace organization, area ownership and cleaning routines, along with checklists and audit tools that will help the team continue the work after my internship. Because the project covered a large, active production environment, I focused on creating a practical system and involving employees throughout the process. I’m proud that the project established a structure designed to support continued improvement. Over time, these tools can help improve safety and efficiency, reduce waste, make equipment and materials easier to find, and encourage employees to take an active role in maintaining the workplace.”
